Michael Steelman is a government-relations specialist for Catalyst. His experience includes working in the communications and events offices for Eric Greitens’ successful campaign for Missouri Governor in 2016. In this capacity Steelman was responsible for authoring news releases; creating social media content; organizing and coordinating events; and assisting the policy director with issue-centered research. Steelman is passionate about public policy and approaches his work with the understanding that the people who influence decisions are made by those who show up and do the hard work.
Steelman cut his teeth in government relations representing the Associated Students of the University of Missouri (ASUM), advocating for 70,000 students across the UM system on student-related issues. He excelled while at the University of the Missouri earning a spot on the Dean’s List in 2015 and 2016.
As a student-athlete, Steelman excelled academically and as a golfer. In addition to earning a Bright Flight scholarship, he earned a college golf scholarship and qualified in the state amateur tournament. He was also honored National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) as Men’s Golfer of the Week.
Steelman has served as a volunteer coach for the Missouri Special Olympics. He enjoys playing the guitar and is an avid reader.
